TAOLB at the Richmond Art Center (RAC) Gallery Exhibition JANUARY 10 – MARCH 02, 2017

DROP OFF DATES FRI., DEC 16 & SAT DEC 17, 2016 (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM sharp!) 

Exhibition Dates: January 10 – March 02, 2017
 Each artist may submit ONE, ORIGINAL, FINE artwork to the RAC exhibition that has not been shown in past exhibitions  Please submit art created in the past 3 years  No giclees, reproductions, print, kits, or mass-produced artwork
SIZE:  Two-dimensional art may not exceed 40 inches (height) or 40 inches (width) including frame. Artwork must be framed and ready to  hang, no exceptions. NO WET PAINT  NO CLIP FRAMES  The RAC retains the right to remove any artwork from the exhibition within two weeks prior to the exhibition by the RAC curator or director.
ARTIST  BINDER: Each artist should submit up to 4 one sided, 8 ½ x 11”, individual pages of promotional material for the artists binder which will be on view during the  Gallery Group Exhibition.  Please bring your binder information to the art drop.  RAC Gallery visitors, jurors, and gallerists page through this artists binder to view additional images, learn more about YOU as a participating artist. Think about a brief bio, samples of your Art & press!  
COMMISSION: The RAC’s commission is 40% on gallery sales.  Work in the exhibition does not have to be for sale.

TAOLB 2015 Exhibit & Open Studios CALENDAR

This annual gallery exhibit boasts a volume of creativity from 80 Bay Area Artists of African American descent.  
 For  this  special exhibit,  the  Richmond  Art  Center  walls  read like     
 a  Living Catalog of the TAOLB 2015 Art Tour. You will be able to view one exciting piece of artwork from each participating artist, as well as a body of selected works from the previous year's Award recipient artists.
All are welcome to visit the gallery &view original art by our local artists. Collecting is encouraged. Also, you're invited to  attend the scheduled artists' talks & reception. 
Free, all ages welcome. 

Save these dates on your calendar to visit individual artists' studios, galleries, & other venues featuring TAOLB 2015 Artists. An intimate way to see more of each artist's creations.

The Art of Living Black TAOLB2013 OPEN STUDIO Venues to Visit NOW!

Wow! This is our favorite time of the year! Why?  Because we as artists  have the privilege of  participating in the Longest Running Art Exhibit Venue that features and supports BAY AREA African American Artists!
Hi, I'm ♥karin, blogger for this TAOLB site, participating artist,& who amongst many others  can attest - no say with pride, that this particular Open Studios Tour Venue was elemental in the start of my public art career!

Not so much poignancy, but a Celebration of the co-founder of TAOLB , her art and her life. Rae Louise Hayward was not only a  mentor to artists, but an artist herself! We were blessed with her understanding and encouragement - as well as her creations.  You will get to see a collection of her artwork at this warm venue! Inside WCRC...
Plenty of parking - Refreshments and Music. All welcome! 

Oasis Gallery's venue exemplifies the true spirit of TAOLB's vision of showcasing African American artists whose careers span from veteran,to first time exhibitors. Please join veteran artists Nannette Harris(oil paintings) ,  and myself  Karin Turner -  (acrylic paintings) for a look at what's new in their world of Blue people and H2oMelons! 

  Award winning recipients Latisha Baker (pyrographer), Stephen Bruce (acid paintings), Renata Gray(ceramicist), Mr. TheArthur Wright(bleach paintings),Tracy Ricks (mirror paintings), & Kelvin Curry(chalk pastel) are examples of just how diverse Black American art truly is.  Jimi Evins'(paintings) and Virginia (NIA) Jourdan's (acrylic paintings) are so colorful and diverse it's hard to believe they work with the same mediums!  Wow! 

OASIS Gallery is also proud to premier new 1st time exhibiting artist Ashlei Williams (painter), who shows a love for color, (and a bravery for going

Original paintings, Crafts, prints, gift items will be available for collecting (fancy word for purchase!) Methods of payment vary by artist, but some accept credit cards, and payment plan options are often available! But hey, cash is always good.

A new TAOLB venue! How exciting to see our Art Tour extended to the South Bay! Black Bean is definitely worth the excursion! 

A fabulously unique venue - This is a storage facility AND artist space! This group of artists features veteran participants as well as 1st timers! Congrats to all !
